Spanish Trail RV Park - Moab

I think most of you know I do not come on here and bash RV parks. Why? Because of RV Park Reviews and info obtained on here our places are carefully picked - and many are places we have been to before.

Many years ago we stayed at Spanish Trails under previous ownership and would not go back due to ethics issues. But felt we could go back now.

Big mistake.

First of all the WiFi. We have been to 178 different RV parks over 17 years part time RV'ing & probably have had WiFi at 150 of them. This was the worst of all. IF you got on, which was maybe 1-2% of the time, you could be dumped of without notice. I just need it for short - but important - personal /business things. I kept getting dumped.

As typical, owner blamed the server; which, I think, is probably part of it. But nothing that spending a few more bucks by him could probably avoid.

They water at night. Fine. But to the point the water runs under the RV - where we had put things so as not to get wet. Soaked them and the whole picnic table top, etc. Basically the whole site. So much water it never dried up under the fifth wheel.

Six washing machines; three out of order.

Road noise is horrific and intensified by entry of the side road across the highway with loud vehicles / motorcycles accelerating.

Two trash barrels on the property - both way in the back on the property line.

We will not come back here and do not recommend it.....lots of choices in Moab. But they are nearly all very expensive.

P M or email me if you want more details.
  • All those years and all those campsites and you aren't on your phones data yet? That's amazing! You have had good luck with that. I gave up on them right away. Thanks for posting though as I can now tell my DW that there is someone else in the world who gets up as early as I do. :)
  • Thanks for the feedback Lauren. When we went through there years ago, we stayed at Arches View for a couple of nights. Now, we might pick a dry campground along the Colorado River or boondock for a night or two.
  • In any place we go I only expect to get what I am told. I call and make reservations so I go by what I am told.

As to WiFi; I do not expect much. But I do expect to get what I am told. I am up 4-5am and am sure there are not many people on! Mid afternoon or evening I know it will be lousy. I expect all that. But when they tell me it is good and I cannot get on my early times they simply have not been truthful.

And it was all the rest that did us in. Even the dog applauded as we left!

And I just found out I can get a free hotspot on my phone with Verizon. Boy, did I jump on that!
  • We, too, don't depend on the Wifi in campgrounds. Why go thru the angst? We're in Pack Creek RV Park right now.....:) It's not the #1 rated RV park, but it's quiet!!!!! In fact, DH just woke up (8:00AM...and THAT's a first!!!). It's cheaper than all those others by far, dirt/sand on the roads, kinda cramped....but there is something about not paying a lot and not getting a lot that works for us. Paying big bucks and not getting what we expect really IRKS me!!!!! Besides, it's way off back from the highway.......did I say it's QUIET????
  • You have been lucky if Wifi ever works in a campground - I gave up long ago and got a Verizon Mifi.

Too many people abuse the campground systems
