For St. Augustine, we like North Beach- sites are large, separated from your neighbor by native vegetation and the park is on the intercostal and a walk across the street from the ocean. Down side is the roads and parking spots are sand so you will track it in the RV... but that comes with staying in FL.
In NOLA, we like French Quarter RV. Easy to walk to all the FQ attractions/activities. Some people seem to think its dangerous, but we've never had issues there or in the FQ. The park is gated and very secure. Interior roads are paved and the sites have pavers. Police station is across the street. At night, you will here the traffic on the interstate and all the sirens from police and ambulances.
We tried Pontchartrain Landing in NOLA last summer and really didn't like the place. The roads were dirt, full of potholes and the dust was terrible. It's a ways from there to town , but their shuttle only ran a couple times during the day so it really wasn't an option.
