- manleyExplorerBeach is better and closer at St Joseph Peninsula State Park. St. George Island State Park is slightly less isolated. My preference is St. Joe.
- rjsurferExplorerSt. Joseph is our preference. Bigger park plenty of hiking and biking, choice of sites near dunes or back in wooded area.
I do hate the Florida no dogs on beach rule.
Ron W. - FunnyCamperExplorer IIWe did St. George. We loved it! We will go back for sure :) What we loved about St. George was for a $4 ticket we bought the pass into the 'far end' of the state park that is off limits to vehicles unless you get this pass. It was so isolated and wonderful. We didn't find the trip to the beach far at all, but we brought our golf cart so that helped shorten the somewhat short walk.
never went to St. Joseph but with the recommendations, I sure will be researching it now and planning a trip to this park! - wildtoadExplorer IIBoth are good, but I prefer St. Joe. Heading there his fall for a couple of days.
- LynnandCarolExplorerSt. George has LOTS of skeeters, aligators, and a lot of racoons!

- dahkotaExplorerSt. Joe is closer to the beach (Gulf Breeze sites) but many of the sites are tight, close together, and not private. Be very careful in picking sites.
St. George Campground is a little more spread out and the sites are roomier.
Both have bay areas and ocean areas, both have areas to get away from people all together, both are a fair distance from 'town.'
We love both and would stay in both but we are very picky about our sites in St. Joe's. If we could get one of our choice sites in Gulf Breeze campground, we would choose that. Otherwise, we would go to St. George. - LamanExplorerI have stayed in the newer portion of the St.Joe park and really like it, close to the beach with nice walkways across the dunes. The sites and roads are a little tight but doable.
I drove through St. George campgrounds scouting it out last week and will say that I feel it comes in second place. The campground is far from the beach and just as tight. Now stores and amenities are a little closer than St. Joe. - wowens79Explorer IIIJust got back from St George on Sunday night. We love going there, but we've never been to St Joe.
St George is very quiet down by the campground, and plenty of space away from people on the beach. It's an easy walk to the beach, but it is not beach front.
At night when the wind was not blowing, we did get eaten up by some bug. Sprayed down my arms and legs with deep woods off, and they didn't bother my arms and legs, but they attacked through my shirt. - Itching2goExplorer IIDo both have sites large enough for a 38 ft fiver? We checked both out when we were in the area this past April, but I'm embarrassed to admit that my memory is confusing the two. I recall that one seemed to be more 'big-rig friendly', but not certain which one.
