Ooooh! It looks like I am guilty, once again of kicking the ant farm. First, let me say that I don't like the term Stealth Camping at all. Unfortunately it's in the public domain now as one way to travel. Notice i said, travel. It's NOT camping at all. It's traveling and laying over in a legal and inconspicuous locale. That requires blending in with the surroundings in plain sight and not trying to be stealthy at all. I'm not sure many of you have even waded through the O.P.'s tome. If you actually did, you would see the O.P.'s fine tips and long term savvy about traveling. I had a quick look at all of your profiles and it's obvious to me that with the exception of one, none of you have anything close to a 'stealth' conveyance and your paradigm is hostile to any other mode of travel. I understand that. My only desire was to relate a well written tome about traveling. I received a lot of good guidance from our Euro Bros with their $500K, go anywhere expedition rigs. Unfortunately I'm not in that $ class and chose to put together something that would do the same thing for a LOT less cash (and a lot less notoriety). On my recent drivetrain upgrade article, virtually nothing was done for 'the look'. My neighbor Rob came by and wanted to see all the 'upgrades' to the drivetrain. We walked around the TC trying to find anything that resembled 'the look'. None found.
Jeanie and I are prepping for a 16 week; clockwise sojourn around the USA; hitting every state with an international border or ocean and within 200 miles of the international border; Sept. 1st to New Years Day travel experience. We'll start in Sand Point ID, as we've covered the West Coast fully and up to Sand Point. This will be during leaf peeper season in Oct. in the N.E. and motoring down the E. coast camping ON as many beaches as we legally can. There are quite a few. The overnight accommodations, mixing it up will include N.P.'s; COE's; N.F.'s; State Campgrounds; County campgrounds; City campgrounds; private campgrounds; layovering; and of course, and mostly in the Western part boon docking where applicable. Our ace in the hole will be that once a week four star hotel. It will be, for all you violinists, like bowing in Mozart: "Take it as it comes"; Down; up, up, down.
