The big problem is Semantics...
I suggest that we call this activity a Quiet Overnight.
Because:
Stealth - Indicates that you are hoping to go unnoticed.
Camping - Conveys (in the modern term) movable housing.
I do not like anything about what this says.
We do a lot of over night parking to have a place to do little more than sleep and walk the dogs. (We do pick up.) We don't put out chairs or an awing and we don't have slides. If we did have a slide I would park so as to make it no issue to others.
But a Quiet Overnight is much closer.
Quiet - We intend to cause no inconvenience to others.
Overnight - As long as we plan to stay.
Twice in our history, we have done a Quiet Overnight two consecutive nights in the same place. We were gone for the entire day, but returned for the next night on the backhaul.
What do I have against buying a slip at a crampground?
Nothing, but they are seldom near our planned route. Even if they are, our vintage coach does very well self contained. That means we don't need anything that a crampground has to offer.
So Why Buy it?
If there is a COE along the route, we will usually get there, but that does usually get us electric, water and a dump for a fair price.
