Cahokia definitely wasn't good, in our opinion.
Casino Queen is too far from the conference site.
I-370 - never been there
Sundermeier - haven't heard good reports and expensive Charles2222 wrote:
Babler is a very nice state park and has a nice campground. It is very close to where I live, as a matter of fact. It does, however, have a couple of potential drawbacks for the OP's needs.
Loved Babler!- It does not have any pull thru sites
- There are no full hook-ups. They are electric only, no water or sewer

I second I-370 park. It will be an easy drive to West Port.
Another vote for I-370. We had stayed at Sundermeier several times and this is far nicer for less $$. - Charles2222ExplorerLoved Babler!
- RRinNFlaExplorerA little farther down the road from Casino Queen is Chokia RV Parque. Great staff, nice level spots, and it was very easy to get into and out of the city.
I guess its the "que" that makes the difference :-) - apr67ExplorerI second I-370 park. It will be an easy drive to West Port.
- welove2driveExplorerSundermeier RV park in St. Charles. That is a nice town to visit. Main st. Shops, casino, history, bars, Bass Pro. If the Grafton, IL ferry is running it is a shorter drive to Pere Marquette SP in Il and beautiful river/bluff drive to Alton, IL.
- naturistNomadAnother vote for Casino Queen. It is safe, convenient, and inexpensive. Since you are "going to a conference," the fact that it is more or less a glorified parking lot with hookups will not be a drawback. Do be aware, however, that last time I checked (about a month ago) they were planning on closing for the winter in October, so you would be well advised to call them just to make sure they will be open for your stay.
- I would suggest this place:
St. Peters 370 Lakeside
It's got large, pull thru sites, full hookups, in a safe area, and it's fairly close to the Sheraton. Google maps showed it to be about 14 miles away, depending on which route you want to take. We have not camped there personally, but we visited friends who were camping there several times. We liked it, and would certainly consider it.
