Wow ... many outstanding camping spots with a truck camper at them.

I'd sure like to see the same thing (annual calendar?) for motorhomes. Over the years we have accumulated a few photos of our small motorhome in somewhat unusual (for a motorhome) camping spots ... many of them way off the pavement, too. Why should the TC folks have all the fun. ;)

That looks a lot like Goosenecks of the San Juan in Utah.
If it is truck campers have been there as well.

A 40 foot diesel pusher camped not far from me, they did not camp as close to the edge as I did however.

Have you been here too? About 1 hour south of La Paz BC.

Now ... who'll be the first Class C owner to post photos of their rig on the White Rim Trail ... and better still camping someplace off it overnight?

About our most challenging drive to date has been on the "RVs Not Recommended" valley floor loop road at Monument Valley ... but we weren't allowed to camp out there so that adventure probably doesn't count. I'm mostly interested in unusual spots for taking a Class C to, and then camping there for at least one night.

Some relatively inexpensive mods to, or features to look for on, small Class C motorhomes would help with off-pavement adventures:

- Change to tires of a larger diameter size than what came on it (if the wheel wells will allow it) to easily gain ground clearance.

- Have air bags installed in the rear (even if not needed normally) to make possible temporary raising of the rear end overhang for easier crossing of washouts across roads.

- For new purchases ... order the motorhome with a limited slip rear differential if available.

- For new or used purchases ... try to stay away from slides for added structural integrity.

- For new or used purchases ... look for a heavier rated chassis under the coach than what would be required for merely it's weight, as a heavier duty chassis may provide larger brakes and increased cooling for improved out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere reliability and safety.

Phil, that's great you drove the Monument Valley road! DW nixed that plan last month about half way down. I did have a back-up plan. Took my dirt bike down and enjoyed the ride even more. I love that bike. It adds another dimension where I can go. I was just in Moab 3 weeks ago and wanted to ride the White Rim. But I had too much fun mountain biking and didn't use the cycle. While in Moab, I got the Whole Enchilada trail off my bucket list. That's almost 30 miles of mountain biking, with a peak of 11,200 ft and 7,000 feet of tough down hill!

If you're in the area again, you can camp at Valley of the Gods. It's similar to MV.

BTW, I'm not too keen on rear airbags. I had them on my 3500 Sprinter based MH and removed them. My accelerometer testing showed they increase rocking. Air bags are like a rubber ball. The more air in them, the higher they bounce.
