Padre Island does require a park fee that can be picked up at almost any gas station or store in the Corpus Christi area. Since Harvey, access to the beach areas is limited. Since the sand dunes are so close to the shore line and you cannot drive on the sand dunes you have to watch the high tides. The water will come up to the dune line. There are a few cut outs where you can pull into during high tide, but the Rangers don't recommend it. By the way March is spring break time in Corpus area and it gets crowded.
thanks for the info. I’d forgotten about Spring Break. Ugh! We are now looking at Mustang Island.
