On our Halloween trip to the Sequoias, I tried once again to capture the Milky Way over our campsite. The good news is that I was able to avoid that weird blue tint on the trailer (see the first shot in this thread, taken in early October in the Eastern Sierra). Instead of an LED flashlight, I used an old incandescent flashlight to illuminate the trailer for a few seconds. The whole exposure was for 20 seconds at an ISO of 3200.
But the bad news is that there was a little light pollution coming from the San Joaquin Valley -- I had to shoot this picture toward the southwest, because that's where the brightest part of the Milky Way was. So the picture is still not what I was hoping for:
