The camera is a Nikon D700, a full frame DSLR. One advantage of a full frame camera is improved high ISO performance. Unless the post to rv.net stripped out the EXIF information, it should be attached to the images. I'm on my iPad & don't have a EXIF reader to check, but I usually shoot star photos at an ISO of 1250, and an upper limit of 30 seconds to prevent blurring due to earth spin, unless I'm trying to make star circles.
Almost all of my editing is done in Adobe Lightroom - if I have to do more than it can do, I move to Photoshop, but that is only necessary on less than 1% of my images.
