Dan, of course Photoshop (I use the ancient CS2 version) can correct exposure in the entire, or selected parts of a, photo - it can pretty much "do everything else" one might want, too. Our most recent compact camera purchase can also shoot in the RAW format, so I'm thinking about playing around with that in Photoshop one of these days. I have CS2 in my laptop so I can use it when camping right after taking shots, but it's not the best place to use it because run-of-the-mill laptop screens can't be calibrated for colors very accurately. At home I use CS2 through the desktop computer and a special high accuracy monitor.
