Things to see and do in lower Keys?

We're spending January on Big Pine Key. Looking for suggestions for interesting places to see and eat in the lower Keys. We're pretty familiar with Key West but haven't spent much time in the other Keys.

  • If budget allows go out and snorkel the reef. Hands down my favorite thing to do in the keys.
  • Do you kayak at all ?
There is awesome kayaking all around Big Pine Key with at least three free launch sites.
If you do, let me know and I'll send you all the info you need, and good places to see young sharks, rays a barracuda.

We just paddled on the west side of big Pine Key out to Howe key the day before yesterday, and tomorrow we will be paddling in Coupon Bight

  • All of the Keys have attractions. The Key Deer refuge is a thought and Islamorada is a nice place to visit. Good eating places abound, just look for the crowd
  • Have lunch on the patio and feed the tarpon at Robbie's of Islamorada.

Walk to the top of the Old Bahia Hondo Bridge.
  • Make sure you hit "No Name Pub" on "No Name Key", really good food!
