Toledo Bend State Park

Looking for some feedback from anyone who has stayed at Toledo Bend State Park. North/South. All information from all who have stayed there will be appreciated. We are thinking of taking our grandkids there for a week and just want some information on folks that have stayed there.
  • We spent a few nights there about six or eight years ago. It was quiet with nice campsites, you will enjoy it.

I am sure it has changed some but it will most likely be for the better.

    Have fun.
  • The campsites are nice at both with some having lake access. All except the tent areas have water and electric. There are wooded walking/hiking trails. If you are thinking for summer months; North has a pool and South has a small beach.
  • It’s been awhile but one thing I remember from South is the water pressure. I had a 100 psi gauge that was solidly on the peg. A ranger told me the high pressure was intentional. He didn’t explain why.

Perhaps things have changed but I’d suggest having a good pressure reducer with you just in case.
  • We were there about 10 years ago (wow, time flies!) and enjoyed. It was a fairly new park, having been open only 2 years.

  • You will be off the grid at north Toledo bend SP. the trees block out satellite signals at 90% of the sites. No local over air channels can be caught. That said I think it is a great park! There is also a swimming pool.

We also stayed at South Toledo Bend SP. this is also a very nice park.
  • We were at South Toledo Bend SP in 2013 and had a nice quiet site. We weren't near the lake, as that was pretty crowded. Really nice park and are thinking of going back this March to either North or South or another if I find a COE or state park in that area. Hopefully something where we can get a signal for the DW to check her FB.
  • Those are very nice parks, but our favorite has always been Pleasure Point State park. Its just north of the Dam area on La. side of lake. Only the locals know/use it so its very quiet with sites always available. Several sites are lake fronts All water and electric. Modern toilets and cabins. The most beautiful views of the lake with amazing sand beach.
  • I stayed in the South area in 2012, & 2016. Enjoyed the park, plenty of distance between sites. Here is a photo of site 55 in 2016,

    And site 15 in 2012
