Do they allow bikes on the beach? I know Anastasia allows them and states such on their webpage, but there is no yeah or nay on Topsail's page. Have a fishing cart I'd like to tow down the beach.
Don't think you would be able to ride bikes on the beach anyway. The sand is way to soft. It's not packed like St. Augustine. You can ride to the board walk down to the beach.
Wasn't sure if it would be possible, even if allowed. Looking at the other St. Parks in the panhandle, none say its allowed. Bummer, with 3.5 miles of beach, it'd be a chore to get to the west half of the beach with fishing gear.
Despite that, we are looking forward to our first trip there in August. - rjsd1Explorer

I dont think they allow bikes on the boardwalk to the beach.

- wbwoodExplorerTopsail Hill Preserve State Park (pictures) has in ground sprinklers and are trying to protect... they have private campground rules because it was a private campground before. All pads are paved. You get a good size patio to put your rug on. I see no reason why you would need to put one on the grass. They do not allow tent canopies on the grass either. Bring your own fire pit as the sites do not have them. As far as them being on the patio, I have no idea. I know the people beside us this past spring break had one out in the grass/dirt area and nothing was ever said. Nothing was said either about their makeshift screen for their video game that was held up on the ends of an ez up frame in the grass/dirt area. And there were workampers staying right across the street from their site.

Topsail Hill SP has a lot of rules not normally found at FSP's.
For everyone's benefit could you quote some? The rules page on the website doesn't show anything out of the ordinary.
In fact, they allow hammocks tied to trees with some restrictions. In many FSP you cannot tie anything to trees for any purpose.
Thanks.
No Patio mats, fires, grills on grass areas, etc. Not my cup of tea
Thanks. Sounds like they have the rules of a private campground to protect the grass.
Topsail was once a private campground that the state took over. Maybe they just continued with some rules.
I agree, not my cup of tea either. I'm not sure my wife would let us stay after finding out about no patio mats or fires. It is an integral part of her camping experience. - fla-gypsyExplorer

This is wrong. They do not. You need to bring a portable fire pit....
