Topsail Hill State Park

I know this is old question but just reserved site 109 at Topsail and looking at the pic its not that bad of site but for the time we needed this looked like only nice one. Any comments are appreciated. We are going here only because our son and his family do not camp and needed somewhere with cabins and close to beach. we just hope we have some shade! Thanks Tara

Beach is NOT a short walk. You will either take the Tram or Bike about a 1/2 mile then walk over the dunes before you get to the beach. We did not enjoy that part of Topsail. But we found if you drive out the exit turn right and drive abit down that road there are other beaches that are a quick walk over the dune from the parking lots. We enjoyed that beach.

It is a short walk if you're used to walking. :) It's 3/4 mile from the campground to the restrooms, bicycle parking, tram stop at the beach. The walk across the dunes is via a very nice boardwalk and it's only 1/4 mile long. We love the beach and the access at Topsail. To each his own.

1/2 mile walk IS a short walk in my book. But it's a bit longer than that. We (mid 40's) still find it a short walk, and the excercise doesn't hurt. If you have bikes, it's even better. And the tram runs once an hour on the top of the hour. So either plan to be at the stop on the top of the hour, ride your bike or walk.

  • That is a good site. You should also be able to pick up the WiFi from there too. Due to all the standing water from the recent rains there will probably be more mosquitoes than normal. BELIEVE me it rained while we were there two weeks ago, almost 20 inches in 24 hours. You will have a great time on 109.
  • It's a very nice site. Has mature trees and shade around it.
