Phil, the flu meant that our walks were much shorter than usual -- three miles at most, level ground, slow pace, and lots of naps. It was sub-optimal, to put it mildly, but we decided not to cancel since this was our only window for a trip during the first several months of the year.
And are you referring to Mattole Beach Campground, on the Lost Coast? We have been there with our trailer -- a very long and tricky drive, but worth it if you like silence and ocean air. I have heard it can get busy on weekends. We were there mid-week, just after July 4, and it was empty.
