TR: Boondocking near Sequoia National Park
We just got back from several days of camping and hiking between Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park -- nothing spectacular, just an excuse to get out of town. Here is a link to the blog post, with some photos:
November in the Sequoias
No shots of the Milky Way on this trip -- the "super-moon" washed out the stars. And most of the time, it was hazy because of prescribed burning by the Forest Service and the Park Service. We did have one really clear day, though -- this was taken at the summit of Mitchell Peak (10,300 feet), with the Great Western Divide behind us:

(By the way, don't be fooled by this shot -- we are not mountain climbers. We simply hiked to the summit, and we had to scramble over a boulder field for the last 100 yards -- not "technical" at all.)
