Day 3: Day 2 absolutely sucked. The kids were in the car for 12 hours straight. We arrived in Philly after 10 pm again, another late night. Then there was a party on the floor below us with loud music until 11pm. So, today, we again slept in. Not happy about being in a hotel, but we all showered with hot water in a roomy bathroom. It was at this point that I realized that while quickly grabbing clothes for everyone out of the camper, I forgot to grab underwear for myself. So, this portion of the trip was commando. Fantastic! Being last minute, I was able to score a great hotel with free breakfast for everyone. This was the best buffet breakfast we had during our hotel days.
After breakfast, we packed up and headed out to see the Liberty Bell.

Nobody cared to wait to get inside of Independence Hall so we just took a picture outside.

Next, we drove over the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and toured Battleship New Jersey. Everyone really enjoyed this tour. I got a ton of great pictures.

Then we headed over to tour the Eastern State Penitentiary. We all enjoyed this as well, but my daughter checked out about 10 minutes into it. She was a good sport and just tagged along for the remainder.

The boys got to attempt to open the cell and they enjoyed that.

Al Capone's cell

We tail gated out of our truck in the parking lot for lunch. We had some cheese, veggies and dip and cold drinks. I never did get the Philly cheesesteak I had wanted, but that's ok. After two late nights and then seeing the Liberty Bell, the Battleship and the prison all today, we were all tired and decided to move on. I liked Philly, and I would go back again. Now we headed over to Baltimore. This was the shortest drive of our trip. We got slurpees while we filled up for gas and my 10 year old gave me the biggest hug for it.
Again, another last minute hit, we ended up with a suite! I booked the hotel as we drove to it. Baltimore was crazy expensive for rooms, but what else were we going to do? I took the two little ones to the hotel pool while the guys hung back in the room to order delivery pizza.
