Gadget Guy , my DW wanted the triple slides, All 3 slides are hydraulically driven so I shut the valve off to the other 2 and bring one out as far as I want, all 3 slides will come out about 3 feet, now that might cause some parking problems at the rest stop, lol

I would have to put out 1 of the 2 slides in the living room area in our fifth wheel about a foot, just to get to my reefer, it is possible but not practicable if you like crawling over the bench seat to get to the reefer
Running a slide out a little for access shouldn't be a problem at all as long as you run it back in when done. Just make sure you don't block off another parking space when you do so or you might cause yourself to be focused on. - Gadget_Guy1Explorer

That is the main reason when we buy a unit that I have to have access to all important things without moving a slide out to gain access, such as the refer, bathroom and basic kitchen hardware that may be needed to make a snack when resting at a rest stop, or stoping at a Walmart for an overnight rest. - The_TexanExplorerThey will NOT bother you if you have to deploy a slide for livability. It is when you set up a campsite with everything out, that they will tell you to move on.
All of the rest area rules are nothing more than a tool in the police officers toolbox to give him leverage with the mobile homeless. Also, the last time I checked, NONE of the states had a "law" about the use of a rest area, they were all DOT rules, which are NOT a law. Now, with that said, there are actual laws that an officer can use to fit any situation, including the misuse of a rest area. - wirenutzExplorerI would have to put out 1 of the 2 slides in the living room area in our fifth wheel about a foot, just to get to my reefer, it is possible but not practicable if you like crawling over the bench seat to get to the reefer
- dallen54200ExplorerOK thanks.
- The_TexanExplorerYes you can, all night long. We have spent many nights in their rest areas and always felt safe, as UHP patrols them frequently.
- TucsonJimExplorer IIThis is a quote from the Utah DOT website: "Utah encourages drowsy drivers to take a break. Rest areas are provided to the traveling public for this purpose. All rest areas are posted for no overnight camping. However, extended stays are permitted and are monitored by the on-site staff and the Highway Patrol. There are no RV hookups or dumps or camping facilities at any site."
The issue is "Camping". You can pull into a parking space and actually get some rest. But do not "camp". Don't put your slides out, don't put any camping gear out. Keep your vehicle hitched up. Do not put your landing gear or jacks down. I visit family in Salt Lake several times a year, and I've stopped for 6-7 hours to get some rest and never had a problem.
I've talked to a Utah Highway Patrol officer, and she told me that they are looking for people who are showing obvious signs of setting up camp and not leaving after an acceptable period for rest. - 2oldmanExplorer IINo. Google 'utah rest areas overnight'
