Visiting DC - New Circulator Bus Route

For those of you who plan on visiting DC, there is a new and improved "Mall Route" for The Circulator Bus: Mall Route.

Fare is $1 and riders can transfer free to other Circulator routes.

It's isn't a narrated tour, but it's a cheap alternative to the topless bus.

Metro is faster but you see more of DC if you travel ABOVE ground.

Come visit and spend lots of money!

  • DC is big on accessability. I'm fairly certain all DC busses, including Circulator, have wheelchair/scooter access via fold-out ramps.

Metro stations all have elevators (but to be honest, they're down for repairs nearly as much as they work, it seems.) Taking the Metro with a scooter is like being in London: Mind The Gap! :)

Here's a web site that might be useful: wmata accessability
  • Great info.We are headed there in September. On a side note anyone know how or if there is public transportation the has handi cap scooter access?DW needs her scooter.
  • Yes! Even for locals! We can grab it at Union Station.

The new route goes by the FRONT of all the mall museums (Smithsonian and NGA), so people can better see where to get off. Also the new route has stops for the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials and the Vietnam Vet's memorial. Those were quite a hike to get to before.

Just don't be in any great hurry. Circulator Busses get stuck in traffic like the rest of us.
  • Great info even for the locals,

Will make getting around so much easier.

    Thanks,
  • That's a great route! A return visit to DC is on my bucket list.
