Wanting information from anyone who has been to Washington DC. We already know about the campground located near there but are wanting information on tickets to and/or attractions.
We plan on spending at least 2 weeks in the area - maybe longer. Have heard that you need to get tickets to many attractions (monuments, museums, etc.) in advance. Is this true? If yes then where do you recommend so that we do not get ripped off.
Any advise would be appreciated. Our plan is to visit in spring or summer of 2016.
Lot's of great advice - Only advice I can give, is good shoes and time of year (Good Weather)
Do not worry about tickets, the most important thing you will need are a pair of really GOOD SHOES no matter what kind of shape you are in you will tire everyday before you run out of things to see and do. The only place that even compares to the amount of Hiking/Walking required would be Yellowstone. Just open your computer and you will be amazed at all that can be enjoyed while you are in the area, but seriously do not worry about tickets. Second if t all possible try to time the trip for good weather - yes we do have a couple of weeks of Good Weather in the DC area - but the rest of the time it's HHH (hazy - HOT and Humid) and the only thing that makes the hiking/walking miserable is doing it in the HHH day's of the summer.
