Seems like there is a need for new campgrounds. The land is costly and choice parcels are devoted to other more profitable uses already. Buildout to current standards is another huge expense, plus the owners have to pay staff AND make a profit.
A new campground will never be the same as an old campground w mature landscaping, tons of room for pull through sites, and cheaper prices because all the fixed costs were paid off decades ago.
If things keep going the way they are the old campgrounds will soon increase their prices once they feel they can and the prices of new campgrounds won't seem outrageous. Enjoy it while you can, 'cause change is here and now.
