We were happy now we are not

We were boondocking on the beach near Freeport, TX. Coastal flood warnings last night and tonight have forced us inland for a few days.
Hope to be back on the beach Sunday evening.
  • Could be worse. Tornados on going in east Texas. One crossing I-20 near Canton destroying multiple vehicles for on the highway. Extent of other damage not yet known.
  • The adventure of camping....would you trade it for consistency? Boring consistency?

When I am on the beach boring consistency of bright sunny days with a nice breeze off the ocean would be nice.
But I get what you mean and yes it is an adventure
  • Beach boring consistency is what we got in our RV on a South Texas beach years ago in August. Hotter than you know what, no wind, and humidity off the charts. We dipped a Coke bottle in the Texas sea water for a sample and have never been back ... probably a lot nicer there this time of the year though!
  • Ch 8 from Dallas is reporting I-20 temporarily closed near Canton, one fatality reported near the town of Ben Wheeler southeast of Canton.
  • Phil, as someone who has spent a lot of time on both Calif and Texas beaches, you'd be surprised at how great the beaches in Texas can be. Yes, the surf is better in Calif. And yes, the really hot weather in summer can be a drag in Texas.

But most of the time, the water is warmer in Texas than Calif (which is usually a good thing), the water is clearer, the surf fishing is better, and the camping is much better -- more spaces available, more privacy, easier access to the water.

Darsben, I hope you are back on the shore right quick!
  • After reading your post, I realized that a week from today we'll be sipping our Sunday coffee by the Gulf at Dellanera in Galveston...I hope.

Counting on you to fix that situation, darsben 1.

Either one of those consistencies would encourage me to eat my gun!
  • Last weekend I barely got my rv out of the site at my local campground due to 6" fresh snow...this weekend sunny, mild and the snow is gone. Mother nature is really in control some times.
