I-40 is OK. Personally, I would not go all the way to I-95. I-40 in the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina is bad. Constant construction and they are still still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. I also hate I-95 from Richmond on up. I get off of 95 and drive up the coast. Not as fast but a whole lot less craziness and traffic chaos. You would have to take the Chesapeake Bay bridge and a ferry from Delaware to NJ. You don't mention what you are driving/pulling. I have seen travel trailers on the ferry.
Thank you for understanding the question, and giving me a thoughtful answer. I am driving a 32' Class C, and am NOT familiar with ice/snow (I am from Florida). Back in October, I drove from Fla to NYC straight up 95 with little problems, well, with little unexpected problems, which is why I thought of hitting 95 again. I will keep researching, and check the weather before I actually head out in March.
