Does anyone have a hook-up for a nice RV park around the Midland/Odessa area. My trips West with my wife are killing me. There doesn't seem to be a decent place out there with full hook-ups where you cant drink the water and the drive from DFW to Tuscon requires a stop - over. Anybody.. . . . .?

We've made that same drive. We stop at Monahans Sandhills State Park just past Odessa. W/E sites and no sewer but for an overnight stop it's a great place, especially if you are lucky to hit a moonlit night like we did. Very quiet place and beautiful day or night.

Ok, thanks. All three places we even considered, you cannot drink/shower with the water. Don't want to put non potable water into my rigs system - so it looks like your suggestion will have to do. Again, thanks.

I have a hard time believing that a state park or commercial campground does not have potable water.

Regardless.... fill up the fresh tank at home and use it. You should certainly have enough for an overnight stop.

Monahans has very good water.

I've also stayed at Midland, though years ago. Don't remember it having non-potable water. The city water is fine for bathing...so is Odessa.

It might be a bit further than you want to drive in one day, but would be a good stop. It's about 2 hours west of Odessa.

With the oil industry still going on in West Texas, the campsite availability still might be tight at the better/nicer places.

IDK. Maybe they had to sell their mansions and move to the trailer parks but they are still pretty full from what I can see off I-20.

Since the Permian Basin oil field provides 2/3 of the oil in Texas, 15% of the entire U.S. and 25% of the total rig count of the entire U.S. that they will stop production just because the price of oil has temporarily dropped.

Take Midkiff exit and go West on North Service road to Midland Drive (about 3/4 mile)then North about a block. Even when they are full of workers, they keep a row of FHU sites available for short term use.
