What is boondocking and dry camping?
This subject is often brought up so I thought we'd put our collective heads together for the sake of newbies and others who are curious what these terms mean. This will be posted as a permanent thread...

I might add that "wilderness" is defined as an area with no roads, opportunities for solitude and the evidence of man is unnoticeable. This comes from the Wilderness Act of 1964. I used to work with it a lot.
You can't take an RV where there are no roads, so boondocking is not related to wilderness. It might be near a wilderness, but not in one. Boonddocking takes place in rural places, mostly away from other people. Hence the name.
