Schwipps, I'd say you will be in the real West, granted just a little west of the Midwest. A great deal of history from the Old West happen in this part of the West.
Can't get more Western than MT & WY. True Cowboy Country.
After all from the Black Hills & beyond, you will not be in the Central Time Zone, but the Mountain Time Zone.
Red Woods should be there for a later trip.
