Not sure where Aurora is - travel time to med west locations.
Mid-west:
UP of Michigan - pictured rock national lake shore.
Spent 2 days in Mackinaw City, MI and took the ferry out to Mackinaw Island
"Far" mid west - Rapid City, SD area - Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Devils Tower, Badlands
Drove through the south eastern corner of Minnesota this summer on the way out west - nice area (Near La Crosse, WI).
I subscribe to a motorcycle touring magazine - they always have great areas to go with a car or motorcycle. http://www.roadrunner.travel/
