What to see/do & where to stay in Rhode Island

Rhode Island is one of the very few states in which we've not stopped to see any attractions nor have we camped there. DW & I are heading for New England later this season and welcome all suggestion...

Take the Newport mansion tour, go to Point Judith and eat some clam fritters at Eggys chowder house, then take the ferry to. Lock island. Fisherman's memorial is a very nice state park if they aren't full.
