I camp a couple different ways, depending on whom I am with and where we are going.
Sometimes we use the camper as a hotel room. We drive to a destination to see the destination. Took the camper to NYC 3 years ago. We would come back at lunch and dinner to feed the dogs. Going to Florida every winter we use it as a hotel room. We sleep there and spend the days with family and friends, going to the beaches, baseball training camps, etc.
We also use the camper for going with friends (with there own campers!). We will go to the lake and hang out at the campsite all week. Cook dinners, swim in the lake, take a boat ride, go kayak... everything you would do if your family rented a cabin at the lake!
We use it as a quick getaway, just to break the monotony of home life. Sometimes you just want to get away for a couple days. Take the camper to the beach, take it up to Amish country, up to the mountains, etc.
When I was about 14, my parents took us on a 6 week cross country camping trip. I hated it at the time (14 year old boy... family for 6 weeks straight). I look back now that I have matured some and realized what an awesome experience it was. My bride has seen relatively little of this beautiful country. With our camper we have gone up to PA, down to Virginia, through the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida. Up to NJ and NY, across to Delaware. As the kids get older, we hope to continue to show them the country... something that wouldn't be nearly as affordable or easy without a camper.
