You have a few choices including Babler State Park outside the city.

We stayed at the Casino Queen in E. St. Louis, IL, a few years ago and it was good for a couple of nights to sightsee one full day. Right by the river and you can see the Arch from the campground. Shuttle to the train across the river - one stop and you can walk to the Arch, boat rides on the river, etc.

It's just a parking lot with hookups, no atmosphere but very convenient. Prices have gone way up since we stayed there, though.

Missouri has some nice state parks and babbler is among he best.

Just depends if you want to drive and pay for parking in the city. We stay at Casino Queen. The big rig sites are paved with gravel in between and there is a nearby train track that has some activity. Even though this is located in East St Louis, it feels very safe because of the casino security. They will pick you up/drop you off at the metro and that makes it easy to see the downtown sites. We visited the Arch and also took a tour of Busch Stadium which was very nice. We also visited the zoo but we drove there. Zoo has no entrance fee but there is a fee to park ($10 when we were there). We never felt unsafe using the metro during daylight hours and if you want to attend a baseball game, the casino has a free shuttle that picks up/drops off right at the stadium. We had a very enjoyable stay while in St. Louis.

One attraction that is a must with the teens: the St Louis City Museum. It's hard to describe, but suffice to say it's more a giant playground and art project than a museum in the traditional sense (though there are a few exhibits).

While in the area, be sure not to miss Cahokia Mounds. It may change everything you thought you knew about First Peoples.

Babler Memorial State Park has a nice campground that is well maintained by nice camp hosts.

Cardinals game at Busch Stadium is a nice family event.

CENTRAL WEST END ST. LOUIS
Visit Forest Park
The St. Louis Zoo, Art Museum, and Missouri History Museum located in Forest Park are free.
Visit the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis. The mosaics are awesome.

NORTH ST. LOUIS
Just don’t go there.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY
The butterfly house at Faust Park
The Museum of Transportation. The very rare AeroTrain is on display.
Visit Laumeier Sculpture Park
World Bird Sanctuary
Visit Grants Farm
Six Flags of St.Louis
If you have kids visit the Magic House

I’m sure I’ve forgotten a lot of things but this list will get you started.

I'd also recommend Edmund Babler State Park. It's huge and has trees for shade and used to have a swimming pool - not sure if it still does. It has manicured lawns and huge sites. Make a reservation now - it's very popular.

St. Louis is VERY hot in summer so don't stay on a parking lot-type of RV park.

YOU might look at cuivre river state park which is about an hours drive north of ST louis Some nice antique shopping in the area and St Charles shopping is on the way to St Louis. The park has a nice beach and swimming area. Plus full hookups but fills up fast.
