White Springs/Lake City Florida

I am debating whether to accept a job offer in White Springs Fl. If I do then Dea and I would most likely put all of our furniture and nonessential belongings into storage, rent out the house and move to Florida and live in the Montana. We have been considering this anyway and fortunately this job offer surprised us in a good way! it's almost a no-brainer considering we would be moving to a MUCH warmer climate and being offered a respectable increase in annual income. There are several RV parks in the area and my BIG question is has anyone stayed in this area and could you recommend a park to live in? I have researched the parks on RV Park Reviews and have read reviews but I would like to hear firsthand experiences. The new job would be located just north of White Springs on HWY 41 but would be willing to consider places in White Springs, around Jasper or even south to the Lake City area. Any recommendations, suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. This is a new adventure for us which is actually a little unnerving when thinking about it to say the least! We would, however be able to save a GREAT deal of money which would allow us to retire much earlier than once expected. Again thanks in advance for any input. Tim

  • If it were me, I'd get setup at Kelly's and spend a few weeks getting acclimated to the area. You might stay there or find that some other place suits your needs better. There's not much going on in White Springs, but as you've mentioned, Lake City isn't far. Tallahassee isn't too much further either, but probably not ideal for a daily drive.
  • Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I will definitely be checking into Kelly's and Oaks and Pines. Please keep the comments coming. Again thanks to everyone. Tim
  • Another vote for Kelly's. We have stayed there many times. Nice folk clean well run park.
  • X2. We found Lee's to be very rude.

They seemed to be orientated to overnights of the interstate.

After our experience, we would not stay there if it was free!
  • We have stayed at Lee's Campground in White Springs and will be staying there for a couple of nights in about 3 weeks. They have downsized the camping spaces to 7 sites and no longer have a bath house available. Probably would not be an option for a long term site.
  • Due to some miscalculations, about two weeks ago we were looking for a campground in that area near dark. We ended up at Oaks n Pines RV Campground on Hwy 441 & I-10 just north of Lake City. We were quite pleased with the family run CG.

Though we were just there two nights, we will be back. They had a group of winter over folks who were very happy with the place, laundry and showers, etc.
  • Kelly's RV Park in White Springs. We over wintered there for three years.

    Clean park.

    Great owners.

    Great residents.

    You won't be sorry.
  • sdianel thank you for the insight on some of the campgrounds in the area. I will check out Lake City Campground. It looks like it's closest to quite a bit to do i.e. shopping etc. and I believe Deanna would like that. We currently don't have satellite in the camper but may be an option later on since we do have it in the S&B. Again thanks for your input. Tim
  • not much to choose from unfortunately.
Lake City Campground in Lake City I think used to be the KOA. Reasonable rates. Cable TV.
Lee's Country Campground in White Springs has no cable and lots of shade so getting satellite is difficult.
You could stay at the Stephen Foster Culture Center State Park for 2 weeks and look around at commercial campgrounds. No cable and lots of shade but some sites can get satellite.
