Why is Crater Lake a must-see?
Having been there a couple of times, and camped all my life all over the west, I am surprised every time I see it on someone's itinerary. The drive there is nice (no matter which route you take)....

Yeah, maybe that's my problem. The first time I was there I was too young to understand the history and stuff, and when I visited as an adult it was early in the year and there were no rangers, boat tours, etc. We stayed the night and saw no one.
I liked Lassen a lot!
It's funny how people sometimes read my posts and think I grew up in an urban area instead of living and camping in remote backcountry. I guess I take certain things for granted and so I don't mention them. My heart is in the wilderness, though. Maybe I should edit my sig file to reflect that.
