- Mike_E_Explorer IIWe were at Mazama last July with our brother-in-law's 38 foot travel trailer.
Getting up there was no problem, and we were able to find a site more than big enough for the rig.
Kind of funny though, once we turned off of 230 onto the 62 up to Mazama we didn't see a soul around. Started wondering "where is everybody?"
Once we pulled into the Village, it was like "Ahhh...here's where they are."
The campground was nice. No hookups in our loop, but we were only there for a night. - ORbikerExplorerI think I would stay at Collier Memorial State Park if I wanted full hookup. If no full hookup; Diamond Lake FS campground.
In you truck drive the rim road clockwise. Trust me. I've been there at least 200 times. Take the time to stop in Park Headquarters and see the Volcano movie. - TyroneandGladysExplorerCollier Memorial State Park. The park at Crater Lake,Mazama Campground, very tight spaces and when we were there it was dirty and rundown. Collier Memorial State Park is only 36 miles.
- goducks10ExplorerMosquitoes are all but gone by the end of August. If you can stay near the lake then you won't notice them. They don't like wind. Several years ago we camped at Broken Arrow CG which is a very short distance from the lake. 100's of skeeters. Down at the lake almost none. Too windy. That was in July too. Sept will be perfect. Weather should be great. Crowds thinner. Make sure you do the Rim drive. If you're into hiking there's some really nice short day hikes. Another nice trip is the boat ride on the lake. It's a good hike down to the lake but really worth it. You can't see many of the lakes features from the rim.

OK, if you go in September, be careful with Diamond Lake RV Park. It's nice, it convenient to Crater Lake AND the mosquitoes are horrendous.
Take extra blood....:E
We were there last September and stayed at Diamond Lake Campground (Forest Service). It is right on the lake. We had no problem at all with mosquitos. Must have been a good year, I guess.
Be sure you fill up with fuel before getting there, though. The one and only station at Diamond Lake is about a dollar a gallon more than the surrounding areas.
There was a lot of road construction going on between the north entrance and the visitor center at Crater Lake. - 2gypsies1Explorer III

Another suggestion is Joseph Stewart State Park...another excellent Oregon State Park. Easy drive up to Crater Lake. Huge full featured park. If you have a dog, it also has a great off leash area, great trail system and is on a lake.
Have a good trip.

This is where we stay. It's a lovely park. - downtheroadExplorerOK, if you go in September, be careful with Diamond Lake RV Park. It's nice, it convenient to Crater Lake AND the mosquitoes are horrendous.

- LwiddisExplorer III'm six feet shorter than I believe you are and had no highway/road issues nor do I believe you will. Fairly good RV parking at the lodge but it can fill up.
- mike-uswestExplorer IIThe snow is higher than your trailer right now.
