I wanna go camping... All of our camping vehicles will look just like those down in Australia... all OFF-ROAD capable...
Roy, I guess that per this discussion topic ... where ya gonna go off-road that's not full of smoke?
I realize that good old Mother Nature's lightning starts some of the forest fires. But does "some" mean less than 50% or more than 50%?
I'll guesstimate/bet/propose that people's acitivities are starting more than 50% of our U.S. forest fires. Once proven who - the penalties should then be ultra stiff for it, of course "accidently" being no excuse. For instance, how about 5 years in jail for someone's accidental activities starting a forest fire that destroys above a certain "X amount" of acres? And how about 25 or more years in jail if a fire fighter is killed trying to put out one's forest fire regardless of amount of acres destroyed?
We NEVER use a wood camping fire anymore, anywhere, anytime. We even use our propane firepit when camping in only certain ultra-safe and allowed/legal situations - and we're of course always around it when it's lit - and of course it's dead-out when we sleep, not at our campsite, and when we permanently leave our campsite. Yeah, these firepits cost $100+ to buy and you have to carry them and their propane along - but wood fires should be outlawed year round in many, or all, camping places of the U.S.. It's fast approaching the time when wood campsite fires, their danger, their smell, and their smoke should go the way of the dinosaur, IMHO.
