Makes you wonder who in that legislature has a 5th wheel!

Strange. But in case, strange is good.

This law has been on the books for several decades. Was passed for big rigs but applies to RV's also.

Michigan has had that on all trailers for about ten years now, $200 for my 5th wheel trailer , one time pay.

dbbls, Are you saying Missouri has been issuing these plates for years, if so most of the office's did'nt know it. I have talked 10 or so 5th wheel owners in Mo. and none of them were aware of it, and why just 5th wheels?

Same thing in Ontario Canada. I plate forever, no renewal.

How long do you intend to keep the trailer? Do the math and see if you'll come out ahead.
I keep my trailers and trucks a long time so I generally get permanent plates. VA allows it for any trailer and for trucks above a certain weight class.
I don't know how much money I've saved over the years but it has been substantial. A side benefit is not having to pay attention to when your tags need to be renewed.

Same thing in PA. It's supposed to be for big rig trailers, but a fifth wheel technically counts. Just $127.00 and I never have to register the thing again. It pays for itself in five years.

I just called DMV. In Mo. 26.00 for three yr. and 56.00 for permanent. 5th wheel's only. So it look's like Missouri has one of the lower rates.

Wow, in these times of tight funds surprised states are giving up the revenue!!

We are coming up on the second year of ownership of the Copper Canyon, looking at about $229 to renew for two years.

Would love permanent plates for the 5er. Maybe I should do some deeper research. In Oregon cars are cheap to license not so much for trailers.

I got permanent plates when we bought our 5er last year. I think if you start looking at 5er plates at the campgrounds you will see a bunch with permanent p!ates. At least that's the way it is on this side of the state! LOL
