Winchester VA to PA campground

We are leaving Winchester, Va after camper repairs and want to go to a nice park about an hour north in Pennsylvania. Any suggestions? We want full hookups and a place for a campfire but nothing fancy. Thanks ahead of time.

  • Yes, a new roof and ladder from a tree accident! We spent 7 weeks in the FL Keys this past winter and missing the fifth wheel. A short trip would be great.
  • It might be a bit more then an hour but I love to go to Gettysburg. I stay at Artillery Ridge and there is lots to do in the area and or just stay in the camp ground and watch the horses. It is easy driving from Winc. too. Are you having work done at Camping World?
  • Look into Paradise Stream Family Campground. It's about 15mi North from Carlisle PA.

It's much like what you described.
  • Not too far north of the Maryland border is Pine Grove Furnace State Park. It's a few miles east of I81. Electric hookups.New bath houses.Water through out the loops and dump station.Small camp store,2 lakes for swimming. There's an old POW Camp about 2 miles away. They have info on that in the office. They have a map and you can walk through and identify some things like the pool, building foundations etc.About 20 miles from Gettysburg.
  • We have stopped over at Western Village in the past and enjoyed it. Just a short distance of I-81.

  • We are not sure, but probably I-81. Thanks to all for the suggestions.
  • Yogi Bear near Williamsport, MD has what you need and is about an hour north of Winchester just off I81 but is a few miles short of PA. Are you coming north on I81 or US522?

We spent a Saturday night there once (2 years ago, on the return to Pittsburgh, we wanted one more night out). One section is kinda wooded, most is an old cattle pasture. Got a bit windy where we were, but you can probably get a site in the valley this time of year.

Very nice people, clean CG, and reasonable priced. We would go back.
