Winslow AZ to Santa Rosa NM attractions/To Do

If your just looking for a night or two in Grants stay at either Blue Spruse or Bar S for around $20. They have great cable TV and the Wi-Fi worked great. Grants has a mining museum and Ice caves and Bandera Volcano

Homolovi Ruins State Park is near Winslow where you can stand on the corner. Meteor Crater and Petrified Forest National Park are not far from the Arizona/New Mexico border.

In Albuquerque there is Petroglyph National Monument, the Pueblo Cultural Center, the Turquoise Trail and the Sandia Crest Highway. In and near Grants are the Mining Museum, El Malpais National Monument, El Malpais National Conservation Area, El Moro National Monument and the Ice Cave and Bandera Volcano. Acoma Sky City is between Grants and Gallup. It is still occupied. It is said to be the longest occupied location in the U.S. They give tours of the pueblo and there is an RV park next to the casino. Santa Rosa is a Route 66 town and has the The Blue Hole and Santa Rosa Lake State Park which has a nice campground.

X2 Rug's ideas--we have visit them and enjoyed them all. Add the Wolf Sanctuary that is south of Grants--just keep your hands in your pockets--the wolves can take off a finger in a quick bite thru the fencing!

From I-40 take 180 at Holbrook to the beginning drive of Petrified Forest Nat'l Park. This first part is the most interesting. The park road will then take you to Painted Desert overlooks and back to I-40.

Acoma Pueblo Ruins just west of Albuquerque gives a good tour.

You could also get off I-40 on 191 south at Sanders, AZ and then pick up 81/53 into New Mexico which will come out at Grants, NM. By taking this you could stop at El Morro Nat'l Monument which also has a nice dry campground. There's also Bandera Crater and Ice Caves.

From Grants to Santa Rosa there's Albuquerque if you want to do anything there.

A stop off in Grants N.M., 60 miles east of Gallup.
Stay at the KOA. If you don't want to go out to eat they will bring a meal to your RV.
