...snip...We lived in San Antonio for 25 years in a stick house (instead of an upper end RV) and I can tell you that it gets cold there in Jan and Feb. Daytime highs in the 60s may be reached by 3 or 4 p.m. and some nights in the 20s or 30s. Of course you can have 75 the next day. It's all what you seek....
You just put a smile on my face. Right now those are the current temps up north here for the last few days. The non-snowbirds are walking around in shorts enjoying the sunny days after coming out of a brutal winter. The snowbirds are all bundled up like they are going on a polar expedition. Like you said, it's all what you seek (or are use too.) - RohoBorregoExplorer

I think this once again depends on what you're in or what will be one day. A park model or an upper end RV (i.e auqahot, double pane windows, etc...) would not be an issue. Sleep in late, coffee and paper, then enjoy the day in the sun and out of the wind.
On the other hand if you're a mobile RV'er in something without floor heat, then I think Rockport is right. Head further south and gain 10-15 degree's. You'll have more hours per day to be outside.

I agree with the other poster...We go 200 miles further south to the RGV. - pawattExplorerThe hill country is beautiful & great people but just too cold for us in Jan & Feb. I would suggest that you stay there until mid Dec, then head to the Rio Grande Valley or South Padre Island until March then head back north or NE along the gulf.
- BarneySExplorer IIIWe spent Jan and Feb in San Antonio several years ago and March in Kerrville. We had a great time in both areas and would love to go back there again. We did have a few days of freezing weather in January and the hill country had snow and ice for several days but that did not interfere with our enjoyment of the area. Most days were sunny and fairly warm. Lots to do and very friendly people.
Both of the above pictures were taken at Ft.Sam Houston in San Antonio on January 16,2007
Barney - Paleo_RonExplorerI just spent the winter in the Hill Country (N of San Antonio, west of Austin). It was only my second winter snowbirding, the first being in Florida. As one who prefers state parks I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed Texas, despite some occasional cold weather. I never made reservations and, with the exception of some weekends, never had trouble getting a site. So much less crowded than Florida. Hope this helps.
- 8ntw8tnExplorerWe've wintered the last two seasons at Miller Creek RV Resort, about 55 miles north of San Antone. This season it got down to 26 degrees on two different nights during the coldest part of the winter. Most of the time it stayed in the high 30's to mid 40's at night. Didn't see any snow from December through April. The days were usually in the mid to upper 60's & low 70's. We like it so well we've reserved our spot there for at least 5 years.
- Dog_FolksExplorerWe spent two diferent winters near San Antonio. Loved the area BUT it did snow both winters. It only lasted a day.
- love_to_campExplorer IIThe worst thing is the wind, visit my son every march 20out of 30 days the wind blows, makes it very uncomfortable.
- daily_doubleExplorerWe have a Winter Texan in our RGV park from San Antonio TX.
