I don't believe anyone has commented on the age of you vehicle. if your tv is still the'02, I would rethink any trip of that distance from IL. my '02 sits in the garage most of the year (I drive it locally nov to march and snowplow my driveway with it) and do not pull my trailer with it anymore. 14 - 15 years old, yikes. since my '02 turned 10 it has been in the shop about once per month. well, on second thought, maybe I can pull some more since half the parts including: transmission, drive shaft, water pump, exhaust, transfer case, rear axle, etc. are rebuilt or new.
We took our Dodge on that trip. 4000 miles round trip from Indiana to Yellowstone and back. My truck had 320,000 miles on it when we left. Granted I do take pretty good care of it and made sure every fluid had been changed. I changed the brakes pads and rotors in the front too. The only problem we had was the air conditioning quit working about 6 hours from home coming back. Lucky for us it wasn't to hot outside.
