This is east of the Tetons in the Gros Ventre National Forest, October of 2010. Very cold and windy night. Coyotes howling in the canyon. Grouse drumming in the bushes, sounding like a hard-to-start lawnmower. This photo was taken by light of the moon -- you can see the stars over the hills -- the trick is a long exposure and a beefy tripod:
