X-2, there is like a 100 times more open land in the west, almost everything in the east is privately owned and or already built on. We have NO BLM land in the east, & if you just pull off the road & set up in most places, you would be greeted by a Cop or an angry land owner with a shotgun. I wish we had a lot of places to just pull off & boondock, but even then, you'd probably have to share your spot with a few hundred neighbors. :(
