your opinion of Wa costal parks

There are some pretty nice, quiet private rv parks also. Last weekend park I am in filled up with eastern Washington vacation 'refugees'.

We go to Grayland and Cape Disappointment every year, both are great but we like Cape D more. We have writes ups and pictures for both parks on the blog in my signature.

Ocean Mist CG is nice (also KM members). No sewer at Ocean Breeze and power pedestals are in pretty bad shape. There is a Thousand Trails just down the street from Ocean Mist.

Grayland is our favorite and evidently lots of other folks favorite too. This year for our extended 10 day July stay, I made reservations in December and only had to move 4 times over the 10 days. It is often full, especially for the beach loop sites. I would not expect to be able to drop in and get a site, I'd at least have a back-up plan if you can't get in. In fact, that pretty much goes for all the ocean sites for State Parks in the summer.

We love Grayland beach state park and Cannon Beach RV Resort. Both great places.

I second Jamesu's comments. We love Ocean Mist and have stayed at Ocean Breeze. I know that sometimes Ocean Breeze with take non-members, but you would need to check. If you stay in the area, check out The Green Lantern Tavern just north of there at Copalis. Really good food.

If you are retired military, you could try Pac Beach, we have stayed there and it is a nice campground on top a cliff overlooking the ocean. There is a small State Campground in the town of Pacific Beach, but we have never stay there.

2x for Pacific Beach SP. Beautiful location where river enters ocean and excellent beach. About 10 or so miles north of Ocean Shores.

We loved Pacific Beach State Park and can not wait to get back next year.

As far as Pearrygin SP, and anywhere else east of the mts./north of Wenatchee: wise to not go there right now. Used to fight forest fires as young man...have read posts saying it's okay to go, but I disagree. The entire Pac NW is DRY and east of the mountains is as dry as kindling. My relatives in Yakima are way far south of the Chelan/Twisp fires and they are breathing and tasting smoke everyday. I will wait and drive east later this fall when things finally die down.

Our favorite is the Long Beach Peninsula south of the Westport/Grayland area. We really like Cape Disappointment SP and Ft. Stevens SP (on Oregon side) but you're hard put to get in this time of year. We recently stayed at Pacific Holiday Resort about a mile north of city of Long Beach right on the dunes. Very attentive staff whose constant, unobtrusive presence makes this a very safe place to camp in our opinion. We will go back.

Up the road a mile or two is Anderson's RV Resort. We did a drive through when we were at Pacific Holiday. Met the new owners who appear to be working hard to maintain a good facility. Would have no problem staying there in the future as well.
