A new Spice Rack and More Mods

Since I had back surgery in May I am still not allowed any BLTs (bends, lifts and twists). Things are healing well, but I still haven’t been allowed to hitch up the RV and go anywhere yet. However, I have had some free time to do some more mods.

I noticed a blank panel above the Microwave and thought it would make a perfect space for a spice rack.

I carefully removed the panel and saved for later use. I fabricated pieces to box in the area for the rack.

I covered the pieces with some black vinyl left over from the radio installation mod, assembled them and installed the rack. DW had fun making the labels.

I had been playing movies on the TV using a laptop, but the software is a bit cranky and DW doesn’t like the wires everywhere. I had a spare Blu-Ray player lying around and decided to mount it under the shelf above the TV.

The Blu-Ray uses about 14 watts where the laptop used about 45. A two hour movie now “costs” about 20 Ah.

I was also tired of the Jenson “sound system”. So I installed a Kenwood head. The excess opening was covered with a panel wrapped with black vinyl. Also added two shelves; one for the ipod connected to the back of the Kenwood.

Speaking of shelves, does anyone else notice that most cabinets are usually cavernous spaces with no shelves or maybe one non-adjustable? So I added some shelves here and there.

Here’s the “dish pantry”. Added two shelves here.

Notice the mug and glass dividers.

The cabinet over the couch is one long space with two doors. Things sometimes “get lost” in the center portion. So I added a divider.

And a little shelf for laundry supplies.

Shelf and divider in cabinet over sink.

Added a shelf in the medicine cabinet and a couple of dowels so that things don’t spill into the sink the first time you open the door.

Couple more shelves I added several years ago, but thought I’d share here.

Shelf in the cabinet under the sink.

There was no cabinet in the potty room, so bought a matching door from the Cougar dealer and fabbed a cabinet.

Added another shelf in the over-sink cabinet with glass lid storage underneath.

That’s enough work for now. A couple more weeks and I think I’ll be able to go camping. :D
