Spices

The space below the sink which I presume was/is for spices just isn't adequate for all the spices we like. so, bought a pice of metal at the craft store and bought 10 spice tins at Fred Myer for about $1.99 each. Each one you can turn the lid for either shaking or pouring. they have a magnet on the bottom. I put 6 sticky pads on the metal sheet and stuck it to back of the opening and then the tins stick to that. Also found a couple of bamboo towel holders that actually match pretty close the color of the wood.

    the sheet metal was about 12" x 12" and I just trimmed it to about 5" x 12" with a dremel.

    Great idea! Nice pic of the finished project, too.

    Do you have a link showing just the bottles themselves? I'm curious about the material- not sure glass in that position would survive without breaking in my trailer ...

    I think the lids are polycarbonate and not glass.

    Thanks for the links- I like the "tin" material!

    This is a really great idea- My space is pretty limited BUT I'm thinking that if the magnets are strong enough, I could stick the tins upside down to a steel piece mounted on the bottom of my upper cabinets...

    Thanks for the links- I like the "tin" material!

    The magnet cover the entire bottom of the tin. We felt they were strong enough. Not sure about upside down. You could buy one and give it a test drive.

    Nice. I've just started thinking about a small spice rack. Not much available that doesn't sit on the countertop.

    This is a great idea, what I did for my spices was get those little tins and with small magnets, just stuck them to the range hood, they have never fallen or broken and they are out of the way. Just another suggestion.
