I also bought off ebay the waterproof ones and did like George3037 by using rubbing alcohol first then put a dab of caulk on the ends. I ran the cord down the awning arm, there is a plastic piece that pops off that already hides the cord for the power awning, then just ran some wires directly to the battery with a fuse. I have had them on now for about 5-6 yrs
