Anyone add a gaurd onto thier Travel'r awning?

We have 2 of the Carefree of Colorado Travel'r awnings and want to add a guard. They offer 2 aluminum type - Uniguard and alumaguard.. and they also offer a cheaper FLXguard.. Has anyone added any...

I was told you can't do it after the fact you would have to order new fabric
