Awning Deflappers

On some forum I saw the idea/plans for some awning deflappers made from PVC pipe. I can't seem to locate it now. Can anyone help?
  • Those things are so inexpensive to buy I can't see why anyone would want to make their own or re-invent the wheel.

However, this thread may be the one you are trying to find.

    x2 -- I got the deluxe version and thin I paid $14.00 a pair??? Maybe $19.00
  • I think there are two types of awning deflappers.

    and awning "supports"

I suspect the second "deflapper" is what the OP is looking for. Sometimes, you don't want to BUY BUY BUY stuff. Sometimes, you prefer to build your own.
  • I built some Years ago,but used the wrong type of Pipe! Too heavy and nearly impossible to grip the fabric!
Be sure not to use schedule 4 or whatever the a good PVC pipe is called in Your part of the World!

Simple to make ! 18 Inches of Light weight PVC Pipe .Run the pipe through a Table Saw to slit one side. Drill two holes part way in from both ends . Run a SS Eye Bolt with SS Washers and a SS Wing Nut through the Holes ! clamp down on the fabric and attach the eye bolts to the Awning Rafters with Bungee Cords!
  • Thanks BarneyS! That is what I was looking for. I have used deflappers that I have bought for years but wanted to try these out to see if they would work better.
