colored totes... and a stackable drawer system for the smaller items. That way you can remember where you have put things... in the red tote or the blue tote. and the stackable drawers unstack or can be pulled out if you need to carry them to a picnic table for sorting.
For really odd sized things.... zip lock makes huge zip lock bags. Big enough to put all the sewer hoses into, for example.
No paper bags. Nothing stored in cardboard boxes unless those are stored in air tight bags... you don't want bugs, mice or mold.
