Oh, just wondering...are you using that 3M eraser disk? It's suppose to remove the vinyl AND the glue without damaging the fiberglass sidewalls. - 71stpsdeExplorerWhen this is done it will look brand new.
- RLS7201Explorer IILast side. Let the stripes be gone.
Tomorrow will be a hard day getting the glue off the upper stripe run. Getting the vinyl off is easy, the darn glue is difficult. I've thrown every thing in my arsenal of solvents at the glue with little resolve. MEK might work but I'd prefer not to use a known carcinogen. I ended up using gasoline and a lot of elbow grease. Yeah I know gasoline is highly flammable, so stand back and no smoking.
Richard - RLS7201Explorer IILeft side is completed. I learned another hard lesson. The paint shop recommended some tape and I give it a try. It didn't pull clean and left a lot of sticky residue, causing me to spent a lot of time rubbing it off.
Richard - RLS7201Explorer IINot really ready to show off yet. Lots of tape residue, dust and dirt. There are a couple of spots where the tape came loose and left some over spray.
I'll get it all cleaned up tomorrow and start applying the reflective tape.
One more side to go.
Richard - RLS7201Explorer IILet there be red. I'll remove the tape and paper tomorrow and we'll see what I have. Fingers crossed.
The 3 window awnings will need to be reinstalled before this side is complete. So much fun, so little time.
Richard - RLS7201Explorer IITaped up ready to lay down some red. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
Then it will be one more side to go. Oh happy days.
Richard - RLS7201Explorer IIYea! We have gray
Back to taping tomorrow, for the red.

Had a '94 Bounder that was faded pretty bad, took it down to Mexico for paint work. Here's what it looked like to begin with, kinda looks like yours as far as the vinyl striping goes:
Jim,
The before pic of you Bounder is exactly why I try and keep mine gussied-up. There's not many coaches uglier than an old faded out Bounder from the 90s. If fact those old Bounders weren't beauty queens when new. But the functionally was over the top when compared to the competition. If you ever get a chance, read John Creans Autobiography, the "Wheel and I". It explains why the Bounder exists.

Tell me about the difference (other than color), between yellow and blue tape.
Price and quality. Both are 3M but the yellow tape sticks tighter and holds an edge better. Don't want the paint bleeding under the tape.
And when you retire, You don't want to tag along with a ratty looking Bounder. Now get back to work!
